Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru, was killed in a plane crash.
According to multiple media reports, Nigerian Chief of Army Staff Ibrahim Attahiru was killed in a plane crash in Kaduna.
On January 26, Mr. Attahiru was appointed chief of army staff, succeeding Tukur Buratai. He was 54 years old.
Although the Nigerian Army has yet to issue an official statement regarding Attahiru’s death, the Nigerian Air Force confirmed on Friday that one of its aircraft crashed near Kaduna International Airport.
“The immediate cause of the crash is still under investigation,” said Air Force spokesman Edward Gabkwet.
The plane was the third of the Nigerian Air Force’s military jets to crash this year.
